BACKGROUND / EDUCATION

  • Native of Richmond and a product of Richmond Public Schools having graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.
  • B.S. degree from VCU in Mass Communications & minor in Political Science.
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute with successful oversight of various complex projects.

CAREER / EXPERIENCE

  • Partner with her husband as a Project Management Consultant to family business where she lends her expertise in project management, goal-setting, financial planning and life skills.
  • 19-year career in banking industry includes management over IT procurement, asset management and process improvement at the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.

PASSION FOR SERVICE / VOLUNTEERISM

  • Virtually a “lifetime” of service to the community from elementary school to churches, the homeless, incarcerated, and youth activities.
  • She has worked to promote financial literacy for all ages and encourage youth to achieve their dreams through career days at schools, churches and other forums.
  • Served six years as a United Way Campaign manager, General Assembly intern, Boys & Girls Clubs facilitator, mentor and volunteer in schools.

LEGACY OF LEADERSHIP

  • As the daughter of the Honorable H. W. “Chuck” Richardson, former City Councilman, learned the quality of responsiveness to citizens!
  • A family legacy of pioneers and leaders throughout the Civil Rights Movement, who played instrumental roles in the desegregation of schools and public federal facilities.
  • Maternal great-grandmother Elizabeth “Bessie” Bell Jones worked closely with Eleanor Roosevelt to launch the non-profit “Tomorrow’s World Foundation” in 1935 to benefit black youth.

FAMILY / HOME LIFE

  • Nichole is the proud wife of Stafford L. Armstead and mother of three children who attend RPS schools.
  • She enjoys spending time with her family, engaging in outdoor activities, reading, listening to jazz or a motivational podcast.
